Project Description: For my Final Project I have decided to animate a favorite poem of mine. The author is unknown, and although it’s kind of sad I can easily picture what the animation would look like so I think it’s a good choice. I’m still deciding on whether or not I’ll be the one to say the poem during the film or if I’m going to have a friend say it. Either way I’ll simply rent an H4N from the equipment room and sync it to my movie. I’m going to borrow my friend Ryan’s camera and shoot him and a couple of my other friends for the film. I’ll then cut it together in Final Cut Pro and rotoscope the images. To give the image more texture I’m going to add parts of the background separately so they can move apart from the rotoscoped images. I’ve decided to not have any music or other noise in the background besides the poem being read aloud. The images for my movie are going to be very literal. The poem talks about a girl doing various activities and I'm going to show just that, a girl sitting alone doing these different acts. Then in the last line of the poem when it says "I just need someone who won't run away" i'm going to show two hands interlocking possibly with wedding rings on their fingers.
Schedule:
-Thursday, October 25th: I’ll have shot all of my footage for the rotoscope portion of my film.I’ll have cut my footage together so that it matches up with the lines of my poem. I’ll have recorded someone saying the poem. Have a folder with all of the raw images in photoshop, and have one as an outline.
-Thursday, November 1st: Finished rotoscoping the first two lines of the poem. “I like drinking coffee alone, and reading alone. I like riding the bus alone, and walking home alone.”
-Thursday, November 8th: Finished rotoscoping the next two lines of the poem of the poem. “It gives me time to think, and set my mind free. I like eating alone, and listening to music alone.”
-Thursday, November 15th: Finished rotoscoping the next line of the poem. “But when I see a mother with her child, a girl with her lover, or a friend laughing with her best fiend.”
-Thursday, November 22nd: Finish Rotoscoping the last line of the poem. “I realize that even though I like being alone, I don’t fancy being lonely. The sky is beautiful but the people are sad. I just need someone who won’t run away”.
-Thursday, November 29th: Add in the background materials separately in after effects
-Thursday, December 6th: Add any effects such as objects moving, fade in’s and out’s, credits in after effects. Upload to blog.
